This reminds me of Austin Powers 2, where in the first scene you find out what's-her-name was a Femebot the entire time... Like for all of the first movie.

I remember feeling like this was a huge cop out.

I guess this is just another example of what I often felt about your work in general, tho. It is so tongue-in-cheek, so set on making fun of other web-comic tropes, that it is sometimes hard to tell whether something is a joke on other web comics, or whether you really think what you're doing is a good story-telling technique. I really hope it is a joke.

But even if it's not, I guess this is what I get for sticking with ANY web comic that has been going on for as long as this one has. Things get boring, or else convoluted.

Now that that's been said, my theory is that the sidekicks tried to kidnap Otra when she was chasing the vet's sidekick and she thwarted them with her mad skills but made them think that they successful and she's going to destroy them from the inside and have some crazy make up sex with Winter for tricking her becuase she had to, for it to seem real o.o

Look closely at what hand Otra's wielding her sword in. Compare this to when she separated from Winter in #687.

Unless Otra is ambidextrous, the impostor got one critical detail wrong- Otra is not left-handed. [Reply]

I enjoy this comic's regular day-to-day zaniness, but I've been wanting another Big Ambitious Arc since the end of the shadow-guy conspiracy. We've finally got it, and Josh has managed to turn the very foundation of the comic on its head. This is an evil, evil twist and I LOVE IT!

I feel bad for Winter, but from a plot and character standpoint I can't wait to see where this goes next. Yay for dramatic tension!

I think the Otra clone was redrawn to obscure Josh's TRUE INTENT.
It doesn't make sense that #626 takes place before Otra and Winter meet. Therefore this Otra is a doppleganger and the real Otra is captured or hidden somewhere.

Also, when is the original dynamic duo going to make their official appearance? They're clearly lurking in the shadows. [Reply]

Ya know, when its all said and done, I am really looking forward to seeing how this is going to turn out, Is it the real Otra and Winter must find a way to bring her back? Is it a clone that must be destroyed? Heck is it the real Otra and she really has become 'The Queen' and now the others must band together to stop her?

Its a new twist to the story and I think it'll be very interesting how the other characters react to the new developement. Nicely done. [Reply]

@RGB Good point about the appearance of Winter's parents putting a dent in the business sidekick's credibility. I suppose they could've escaped from captivity or something. That's not the kind of thing a villain reveals to her adversary during a climactic demoralizing speech, of course. Hmmm... This certainly isn't looking good...

BUT, we hear most of this from the Devil In Plain Sight. And they were separated too...

While this might be another (very serious) obstacle for the two to get over, the ret-conned pages in the past only obscured Otra's past. All that Josh did, however was prevent the readers from proving the HappyCo Sidekick wrong. Whether she's telling the truth, and whether Otra was an evil sidekick all along, or whether there's something else going on isn't clear. I'm staying tuned! [Reply]

Regardless of how this predictable yet satisfying plot point winds out, it seems to me at least that to continue the comic any further then the end of this story line would be folly. Even if this Otra is pretending, or a clone, or whatever, surely this is the limit for the tension that any relationship can stand?

- She's the real Otra who is faking a Face Heel Turn but is, in reality, a Reverse Mole, secretly still a good-guy.
- She's being MIND-CONTROLLED.

I really can't see how you're gonna pull this thing together. Maybe you're doing it so you can start a new with the whole process. But honestly, I think you are 10 strips away of killing this comic. Which kinda sucks. This was the thing that got me happy while I was at work, after all.
